Going Green at Broadway

April, 2012 - Community Art Share Project

In celebration of Earth Day, all Broadway Elementary Students (K-6) were invited to submit a Community Art Share drawing. As a learning project, students were asked to create art addressing the theme: "What Does 'Going Green' at Broadway Mean to Me?" Broadway is currently soliciting community sponsorships to showcase the student art submissions on large, outdoor banners where some 15,000 cars pass daily.

In conjunction with Earth Day and Broadway’s Community “Art Share” project themed “What 'Going Green' at Broadway Means to Me,” the Friends of Broadway booster club applied for a grant to start a small, kid-directed (kid-voted) recycling program on campus. Broadway students helped communicate the grant goals and what “going green” means via video as part of the application for The Big Help grant sponsored by Nickelodeon and the National Wildlife Federation in partnership with the National Environmental Education Foundation and NEA Foundation.
