Curricular Topics for This Week
Here are the curricular topics for this week: we will continue the final Language Arts Unit, “I Know A Lot.” We will be using all the language skills the students have acquired during our year together. For phonics, we will review /y/ and /z/. Our high frequency words are “they and me.” In Math, we continue the preparation for next year with “Step Up to First Grade” by looking at subtraction. The Mandarin teachers have 4 characters of Chinese character review: 這 (this) 是 (is) 朋友 (friend) (Review)

Kids Corner - Activities Around L.A. for families
Modes of Transportation Around LA. Here are a few fun places to visit in L.A. on the weekends: Travel Town in Griffith Park has lots of trains to see, and even climb on! A trip to Union Station downtown to see the modern trains and train yard would be fun. From there, you can hop a subway and take a ride to Hollywood or even Culver City . Also downtown is the historic Angel’s Flight cable car “The shortest railway in the world” connecting 351 South Hill Street to 350 South Grand Avenue. For cars, try the Peterson Automotive Museum on Wilshire across from LACMA, . To see cargo ships in the harbor, it is amazing to watch the giant cranes in San Pedro as off-load their cargo (). Don’t forget our own Marina del Rey and the sailboats, daily early morning crew team workouts and the various fishing crafts. Lots to learn about Transportation all around us!
