Volunteering in class is a very “hands-on” experience and therefore should not be used as an opportunity to merely observe. However, observing a class is also welcome. This should not be used as a time to ask questions of the teacher or disrupt the classroom environment in any way.
If you would like to observe a classroom activity:
- Determine the classroom activity you want to observe, and keep the classroom observation time to 20 minutes or less.
- Request an appointment for a visitation date and time from the office staff, who will confer with the classroom teacher and obtain the principal's permission. School hours are 8:15 a.m. to 2:39 p.m.
- Once the visitation date and time have been approved, visitors are to check in at front office at the appointed time, sign the Visitors’ Log located at the front counter, and receive a yellow VISITOR sticker prior to proceeding to the classroom.
- Return the VISITOR sticker to the school office before leaving campus and sign out in the Visitors’ Log.
SOME IMPORTANT RULES FOR VISITORS:
- Sit in the back of the classroom.
- Enter and leave the classroom as quietly as possible.
- Do not converse with the students, teacher, and/ or instructional aides during the visitation.
Please do not interfere with any school activity during the visitation.
